Muswell Hill takes its name from a medieval mossy well believed to have healing properties. Largely rural until the late 19th century, it was transformed between 1896 and 1914 by developers James Edmondson and William Collins, who built one of London’s most architecturally consistent Edwardian suburbs around a curved high street.
